José Avillez and Páteo
In 2016, award-winning Portuguese chef José Avillez opened Bairro do Avillez in Chiado, in a space that was once part of the Convento da Trindade, a spectacular one-thousand-square-metre gastronomic universe with four different restaurants and one of the most surprising and interesting restaurant and entertainment spaces in Lisbon, and even in Portugal, in architectural, decorative and artistic terms. Páteo is one of those four restaurants and offers contemporary Portuguese cuisine signed by José Avillez.
Restaurant signed by José Avillez
José Avillez’s signature is present in every detail of Páteo at Bairro do Avillez: from the decoration to the lighting, from the cuisine to the service and from the concerts to Fado, on certain special evenings. Páteo at Bairro do Avillez is not visible from the street. Páteo is at the centre of Bairro do Avillez and becomes visible after passing through Taberna, a relaxed restaurant with a terrace located right at the entrance. Portuguese products, highly valued by José Avillez, are an essential part of Páteo’s identity and are very well represented on the menu and the wine list.
Why visit Páteo?
Because it combines Portuguese cuisine, the signature of chef José Avillez (one of the leading ambassadors of Portuguese cuisine and one of the most internationally recognised Portuguese chefs), a good atmosphere, friendly service, a central location, easy access and parking, and convenient opening hours (it is open every day for lunch and dinner). It is suitable for tourists, but it is not only for tourists. It is suitable for Lisbon residents, but it is more than a neighbourhood choice; it is a reference in the city of Lisbon. It is good for lunches, dinners, meals for two, families, groups, special occasions, Fado Nights, dinner concerts and even business meetings.
